Pottery has a rich history in Morocco and beautiful mosaics adorn buildings in the Moroccan medinas, big jugs hold the olive oil at the merchant, and olives are served to you in little bowls at the eateries.
Makamashi features ceramics from two Moroccan cities well-known for their pottery, Safi and Fes. The clay used and the decorative patterns are distinctive to each area. Both are hand thrown, fired in gas ovens and decorated by hand.
The ceramics are made by hand in small quantities. Small variations in size, color and characteristics occur as a result of being created by hand and make each piece unique.
