    Description

    Presented is an
    1892 New Orleans
    Mint (O)
Liberty Head aka Barber half dollar.
This coin represents the first year of issue of the Barber half dollar series (1892-1915) with a mintage of 390,000 and has the fourth lowest mintage of the series (1913, 1914, 1915 lower).
The coin is ANACS graded as having
    EXTRA FINE
details but was apparently down-graded due to being “cleaned”. Although noted as “cleaned”, there are several small, light iridescent toning spots (blue-purple) on the obverse around the perimeter (between the stars) and the toning is much more prevalent on the reverse circumferential lettering and adjacent field surface.
“LIBERTY” on the headband is bold but the lower edge of the ribbon between the letters I and E is weak and indistinct.
The coin certainly achieves the EXTRA FINE grade.
Payment must be received within 3 days of auction closing.
