Vintage Navajo Sterling Storyteller Concho Belt by Johnsons
This amazing storyteller concho belt comprises a buckle and 9 conchos, each with a different story! I've pictured every one, so you can see for yourself all the different stories being told. Each concho measures 2" x 3", and weighs about 50 grams (with some variation, of course). These are marked Sterling, JJ for Jerry and Joann Johnson, Navajo artists. You will want to have a belt made for these, and it will need to be 1 1/4" wide. A huge amount of work goes into each concho, which has a flat base plate that is soldered to another plate or plates that has been cut out and filed to show the designs. After soldering, the background is worked and darkened. All hand work! Total weight of all the conchos is 490.2 grams.
