Fine Zuni Large Blue Jay Pin Edward A. Beyuka Signed Channel Inlay Pueblo Deco

WHAT IS GREAT ABOUT IT: an exceptionally gorgeous large Blue Jay pin on a branch with leaves made and signed by the master artist Edward A. Beyuka. This exquisite pin would have been made in the late Art Deco period, 1940s-1950s, as it's done in the Pueblo Deco style as discussed in the Bauver book on the Druckenmiller collection. The three colors rather than the sacred four and the beauty of the simpler
style is typical of that period. Note the dimensional carving on several of the stones while the rest is done in flush channel inlay. The bird is made of
turquoise jet and mother of pearl, the leaves of abalone and I'm not sure of what shell is used in the branch as the color changes. I have just snagged another in the series, unsigned, but fabulously near this one and I wear them together and will be offering it separately.
BACKGROUND:
Eddie Beyuka was born in 1921 and died in 2002, a Veteran of WWII, a POW and a Bataan Death March survivor. He was a  Zuni Tribal Council member. He was a multiple award winner and was in the Arizona Highways Hall of Fame. He had multiple exhibition and is in the Peabody Museum, the Museum of Harvard, the Cambridge Collection the Kennedy museum, Ohio University's museum, and in countless permanent collections. He's discussed in countless books as well and I consider his work to be among the very best.
CONDITION: Excellent vintage, collectible, wearable, with minimal age related wear.

• not marked for metal content which is usual for the times but it's sterling silver
SUMMARY: Beautiful large and elegant example of the early and best type of Eddie Beyuka's work in the form of a Blue Jay pin, made in the Pueblo Deco style with three colors in the bird, carved abalone leaves and a shell branch. This is striking work early work for him, late Art Deco, Pueblo Deco period. A terrific collectible: one of the most beautiful pieces I think anyone could own. It's less expensive and is also tracked. First Class International is no longer offered by the US Postal Service. I charge the actual shipping cost and since shipping to each country costs a different amount, I will charge a little extra and refund the exact difference once I can put your address in and print a shipping label. I am no longer shipping to Italy and China, but can make exceptions if you speak with me about it, especially if you are a prior customer.
Returns will be accepted for 30 days after your receipt for any reason and without question. Please let me know if you would like to return something.
