    Description

Navajo Tommy Singer Sterling Silver Concho Belt
    9  Storyteller
    Overlaid
    Designs - ,395.
This unique Vintage belt in never worn, "New Condition" is a fabulous Navajo
Sterling Silver Concho Belt with 9 Overlay Storyteller Plaques
created by award-winning artist Tommy Singer.
The black suede belt measures one inch wide
by 49 inches long from end to end
(not including the 3-inch wide buckle). The belt features a total of 9 handmade
sterling silver sections of overlaid storyteller designs. The sections
and the buckle each measure approximately 3 inches wide by 1-1/4 inches high.
The two brackets/belt loops on the rear of each plaque holding the belt
are also made of sterling silver - not copper as seen
on some other storyteller Singer Concho belts.
    This unusual Concho belt is
hallmarked with one of Tommy Singer's
early marks - a capital "T" with a moon symbol and the word "Sterling."
I have never worn this belt and although Vintage, it is in brand-new condition.
I considered it more of a collector’s item and stored it safely away
since I purchased it in late 1980's on a trip to Arizona and New Mexico,
along with a number of other Native American Indian items.
I like this particular belt because it is unique
and it is rare to see another Storyteller belt identical to this one.
Tommy Singer, Master Silversmith and renowned Navajo artist,
was a master of and is best known for his silver overlay method.
He created Storyteller scenes with tremendous detail and skill.
His outstanding work has been included
in prestigious museum exhibits and acknowledged in many books
and articles on Native American Indian jewelry and silversmiths.
A 2004 silver bracelet that he created is part of the collection of the
Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.
Tommy Singer died in a motorcycle accident in May 2014.

    About Us
Most of our listed items are from
our many years of traveling and collecting
diverse, unusual, and often times one-of-a-kind items.
After nearly 60 years of marriage, we downsized
from a home of almost 4,400 square-feet and moved
    to a condo of about 1,400 square-feet,
so we will be adding additional listings periodically
in various categories as we get the time to list them!
Items are from our smoke-free home
    with no pets.
